Overview
The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice qualification is aimed at candidates who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures day-to-day in their organisation. They may be a staff member, supervisor or manager looking to improve their knowledge and skills.
The awarding body for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). This qualification has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
Who can take this qualification?
This NVQ program is completed using actual work product that you would be creating and implementing during your day to day role, alongside knowledge & understanding sections and projects. It is therefore a requirement that you are employed in a role where you have responsibilities for health and safety management or a senior advisor role.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
The awarding body of this qualification (ProQual) suggested that the total qualification time is 1064 hours, we feel this qualification can be completed in 6-18 months. Although most of these hours you will already be spending carrying out your day to day duties.
How will I complete this qualification?
Once you are enrolled you will be allocated a tutor/assessor and you will work together to complete the qualification. The different types of work and activities that you will undertake to complete the qualification include, Submitting work product such as Policies, Procedures, Risk Assessments, Accident Investigations, emails showing your involvement with H&S in the workplace, Knowledge & Understanding Q&A's, Observations by your tutor, Witness Testimonies from colleagues/managers.
There are no EXAMS to complete to achieve this qualification.
Qualification Structure
There are 10 mandatory units which must be completed
Mandatory Units-
1) Promote a positive health and safety culture
2) Develop and implement the health and safety policy
3) Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
4) Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters
5) Identify, assess and control health and safety risks
6) Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems for health and safety
7) Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for health and safety
8) Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures
9) Develop and implement health and safety review systems
10) Maintain knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice

The cost of this qualification is £1650.00 +VAT
