It is specifically designed for fire risk assessors and fire consultants to deepen their understanding of commercial fire alarm systems, including the various types, causes and effects, system design, and maintenance requirements. By enhancing their expertise in fire alarm technician training, participants will gain greater confidence when providing advice and guidance to clients.

- Reasons why a premises may require a fire detection and alarm system

- The sections of BS 5839-1

- Common selections of fire alarm panels

- Installation considerations for commercial fire alarm detection, including cabling

- Fire alarm sounders and other outputs

- The outline of RRO contents and British Standards related to fire alarms

- Testing and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems

- An overview of domestic fire alarms and BS 5839-6
