Who is this course for?
This First Aid in Rugby Union qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders within their rugby club. This qualification meets the requirements for complying with Regulation 9 and the Rugby Safe Essentials Guide (August 2021).
What does the course cover?
The First Aid in Rugby Union qualification covers the following subjects
- Introduction to Emergency First Aid in Rugby (Roles and Responsibilities of the first aider)
- The Primary Survey
- The Secondary Survey
- The Recovery Position
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Using an AED
- Suspected Fractures
- Suspected Spinal Injury (MILS)
- Suspected Spinal Injury (Log Roll)
- Seizures
- Bleeding and Shock
- Burns and Scalds
- Choking
- Nose Bleeds
- Suspected Concussion
- Skull Fractures and Compression
- Continue to Play Assessment
Timings?
The compulsory learning time for this qualification is 6 hours, this can be achieved in 1 full day 09:30 - 16:30 or over 2 split sessions of 3 hours.
Assessment
This First Aid in Rugby Union course is assessed by the tutor throughout the course with a number of practical assessments and a 16 question multiple choice assessment paper at the end of the course to confirm understanding of the content of the course.
Tutors
Our tutor for this qualification has an extensive background with the emergency services and an extensive first aid training background, has played, coached and refereed rugby from U7s to Seniors. Our tutor also holds the Pre Hospital Immediate Care in Sport Qualification and undertakes an annual refresher in Immediate Life Support (ILS).
Certification
Successful learners will receive a Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification (with the above content printed on the rear of the certificate) which is valid for 3 years.

We can deliver this qualification at any venue in Sussex, Surrey, Kent & Hampshire at a time and date to suit you.
100% of the course must be attended to gain this qualification.
